Success, How do you measure it?

We all have our own perceptions when it comes down to measuring words. What measuring tool do you use to measure success? Is success something tangible that you can see and hold or is it a state of mind? When I want to see what success looks like, I go to my profit charts. What I expect to see is my line chart. It should look like somebody was trying to freehand draw steps of a staircase. Over the last week, my profits should look like 5 steps, for the month I should see 4 flights of 5 steps. When I see that, I feel successful. How do you measure success?
